Ella M. Marusak passed away at her home in Ennis on Thursday, June 30, 2011. Ella Marusak, 85, passed away on June 30, 2011 at her home after a brief illness. She was born on June 18, 1926 to Leslie and Emily Pavlicek Vinkler in the Creechville Community, Texas. On June 15, 1947, she married Joe L. Marusak. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Friends and family could always depend on Ella for warmth, generosity, affection and her practical wisdom. Ella was happiest when she was busy, whether at work or at her hobbies. She worked at Ennis Business Forms and Ennis Automotive for several years and spent many years as a day care provider. One of her greatest pleasures was when one of her "babies", now grown with children of their own, would run up and hug "Granny Ella" whenever they met. Ella had a green thumb and grew the most beautiful flowers in the neighborhood. She was an accomplished seamstress and created beautiful quilts and dressed over 1000 dolls, most of which were auctioned for charity at St. John's Church bazaars. She was also commissioned to create special bridal dolls for weddings and many more in traditional Czech costumes. In her later years she was able to travel extensively and made four trips to the Czech Republic. The first trip in 1993, with her husband and Alex and Nancy Marusak, whetted her appetite for more visits to the home of her ancestors. Her final trip in 2001, with more family members in tow , included a visit to the house where her grandmother was born in the 19th century. Ella was an active member of St. John Catholic Church, the St. John Golden Crusaders and the KJZT. She especially enjoyed dominos and socializing with her many Golden Crusader friends and loved the fund raising garage sales. She is survived by her husband Joe L. Marusak of Ennis; four sons and one daughter: Don Marusak, Joyce Falger, Gary and wife Debbie Marusak, Joe Marusak Jr. and Tim and wife Tonya Marusak; five grandchildren: Russell Marusak, Amanda and her husband John Cabrera, Meagan and her husband Vitelio Amador, Bob Marusak, and Chris Marusak; and five great-grandchildren: Adriana, Matthew and Noah Cabrera and Zoe and Sadi Amador. She is preceded in death by her parents Leslie and Emily Vinkler, brothers Leslie and Antone Vinkler and sisters Geraldine Pokladnik and Mary Jo Sedlacek. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives she touched. The family would like to thank her many friends and loved ones for their support in her final days and especially thanks Family First Hospice for their loving and professional care. Vistiation will be on Sunday, July 3, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel with Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on July 5, 2011 at 10 a.m. in St. John Catholic Church with Entombment to take place afterward in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
