☆~ VETERAN, WORLD WAR II (1939-1945) ~☆ John Leo "Jack" Burke, 88, died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at his home in Alliance, Nebraska. Jack was born February 4, 1922 in Box Butte County to John Thomas and Winifred Marie (Nolan) Burke. Jack married Ellouise A. Todd on February 26, 1949, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church Alliance. Jack served in the U. S. Army from May 24, 1945 to October 23, 1946. A lifelong Angora area rancher, Jack was a member of Holy Rosary Church, the Nebraska Cattlemen, American Legion and VFW and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Jack is survived by his wife Ellouise, his children, John Harold (Terri) Burke of Alliance, Alice (Henry) Hagedorn of Lincoln, Mike (Barb) Burke and Trish (Don) Failor of Alliance. He is also survived by his grandchildren Erin, Shawn, Steve, Casey, Martie, Chris, Tim, Ben, Chris, Andreah, Matt, Rennie and Katie; great-grandchildren Emily, Sean, Abby, Jakob, Courtnay, Charlee, Cagnie, Josie and Jack; Sisters-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Burke, of Alliance and Joanne Burke of Green Valley, AZ., his brother-in-law, Jack Todd of Alliance and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bernard and George, sisters, Mary Eileen Burke and Barbara Morrill, sister-in-law Berniece Todd and brother-in-law Mason Morrill. Inurnment was in Calvary Cemetery, Alliance, NE.
