The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 7, 2003 Hettie "Granny" Clark, age 90, passed away Feb 5, 2003 in Glendale, AZ. She was born Apr 9, 1912 in Berryflat, TX and moved to Arizona in 1938. She worked at Thunderbird Field assembling aircraft wings during WWII, and many following years in the produce sheds around the valley. Granny dedicated 18 years (1959 1977) to the G.E.S.D., working in the cafeteria primarily at Unit II. A member of the First So. Baptist Church of Glendale since 1938, and life long Sunday School Teacher from the Junior Dept. to the Adult Ladies Group. Her great joy in life was her family, and she made each and every one of us feel like "her favorite"! She took great pride in being surrogate mother to countless people in the school, church and community throughout her life. We all knew Granny would be there with a helping hand, open heart and boundless love. Preceded in death, by her beloved husband of 53 years Curtis Clark, and infant daughter, Artie Fay. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Len) Foster & Judy (Mel) Snyder; brother, W.H. "Dub" (Rachel) Berry; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, & 12 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be 5 8 P.M., Sunday, Feb. 9th at Chapel of the Chimes, Glendale, AZ, and 9-10 A.M., Monday, Feb 10th at the First So. Baptist Church of Glendale. Funeral Services follow at 10:00 A.M. at the Church, interment will be at Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale. Spouse .. Curtis Franklin Clark.
