Millard G. McClain, known as "Mac" or "Jiggs" to his friends, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011, in Bedford. Service: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery following the service. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either Operation Orphans, P.O. Box 535, Mason, Texas 76856 or Meals-on-Wheels of Tarrant County, 4002 West Pioneer Parkway, Fort Worth, Texas 76013. Millard was born on May 20, 1917, in Mooreville to Bonnie James and Telley McClain. After 35 years of driving for Greyhound, he spent 20-plus years as a volunteer for Operation Orphans, an activity that he truly loved. The family would like to thank the staffs of the Good Place Assisted Living Facility, the Parkwood Healthcare Facility and Vitas Hospice for the loving care provided during the final months and days of our father's life. Survivors: He is survived by daughter, Glenda Hammonds of Fort Worth; son, Jerry McClain of Houston; sisters, Robbie Lee McClain of Frisco and Jean Harkins of Prosper; one grandson; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
