Marie E. Erwin was born January 31st, 1891 in Washington Parrish, Louisiana, moved to Poynor in 1912 and was married to Wallace O. Taylor July 25th, 1914. To this union five children were born, four boys and one girl. Four children survive her. Marie was a member of the Missionary Baptist church since the age of sixteen; was a good, pure Christian, a loving wife, mother and friend and beloved by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed, not only by her grieving family, but by a host of friends as well. She had been in bad health for the past year, still her death occurring suddenly Friday afternoon was a great shock to all. She leaves a husband and four little children, age 10, 8, 4 and 2 years, a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Erwin, two brothers, R.T. and Argus Erwin, four sisters, namely, Mrs. Carl Fortenberry, Lubbock, Texas, Mrs. Geo. Williford, Temple, Oklahoma, Mrs. B.M. Fisher, Franlin, Louisiana, and Mrs. Jennings Owen of Lubbock, Texas, besides a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, uncles, aunts and cousins who knew and loved her for her sweet smile and sunny disposition. She has gone to meet her Saviour, Her sunny smile we'll see no more, She's asleep, but to awaken, On the shining heavenly shore, For up in Heaven, there's no pain or sorrow, All is peace and rest and love, There she's waiting for her loved ones, In His mansions up above.
