Chales R. Channer Died Here June 15 Charles Ray Channer, 82, longtime area resident and retired farmer. died June 15 in Memorial Hospital here following a lingering illness. Mr. Channer was born on June 11, 1900, in a sod house near Cozad to the late Sereno G. and Izorah (Crouch) Channer. He was baptized at an early age in the Bethal Methodist Church near Cozad. He moved with his family to Primrose in 1910, and attended schools and churches there. Since the age of 14, he farmed in the Primrose and Cedar Rapids areas and was a pioneer irrigator from the Cedar river in 1934. On April 5, 1922, he married Myrtle Primrose at Primrose. Following his mother's death in September of 1922 they made a home for his father for 16 years. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in April of this year. They moved into Fullerton in 1974. Mr. Channer served on school boards at District 30 in Boone county and on the Belgrade School Board for several years. He was a member of the Belgrade United Methodist Church. At the time of his death, he was Sunday School Superintendent at the Belgrade Church, a postition he held for over 30 years, and had been chairman of the Church Board for many years. Surviving beside his wife are two sons, William Ray Channer of Cedar Rapids and Charles Vernon Channer of St. Edward; two daughters, Mrs. Virgil (Myrtle Alice) Leimer of Sharpsburg, Maryland, and Mrs. Gerry ( Marilyn Ann) McIntyre of Fullerton; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, James R. Channer of St. Edward. Visitations will be held until 9 p.m. on Wednesday in Palmer's Funeral Chapel here. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Ellen Reidal, pastor, in the United Methodist Church at Belgrade on Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Dublin Cemetery at Primrose. Nance County Journal, Fullerton, Nebraska
