Bio

Raymond Jerome Peters, 63, a utility manager, died Friday, November 26, 1999, at his Keller home. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller. Burial was in Bourland Cemetery in Keller. Rosary was said at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel. Celebrant: Father John Gremmels of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Raymond Peters was born September 3, 1936, on the family farm in Seymour, Texas. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1954. He earned a bachelor of Business Administration from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, now known as Midwestern State University, and a master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. Raymond served in the Army for two years, including active duty during the Berlin Wall Crisis. Raymond began his career in 1961 in the power department of Texas Electric Service Company in Wichita Falls. Throughout his career, he held multiple positions in several departments, including purchasing, accounting, information management and communication services. He retired after 32 years of service in 1993 as Manager of Contracts in Procurement from TU Electric in Dallas. He continued working with TU as an independent consultant until 1998. Raymond was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Czech Catholic Union of Texas. He served as President of the keller Rural Water Board and was a founding member of the Keller Youth Association, where he took great pride in Little League coaching. Raymond passed away at home, surrounded by family, after a two-year battle with cancer, which he fought with courage and dignity. He will be remembered as a loving husband, fantastic father, guidance counselor and cheerleader for his family. We respect many individuals in our lives, but our family has only one hero. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Christine Peters; and brother, Freddie Peters. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Judy Oechsner Peters; sons, Jeffrey Peters and his wife, Cynthia of Burleson, Samuel Peters of Dallas and Gregory Peters of Keller; daughters, Jill Rankin and her husband, Daniel, of Arlington and Paige Peters of Dallas; sisters, Patricia John of Brownsville, Jeanette Campbell of Corpus Christi and Pamela Kelley of Mesquite; grandchildren, Luke Peters, Rachel Peters, Ireland Rankin; and beloved uncle, Ben Marak of Seymour.
