1st marriage to Walter William Jennings 2nd marriage to Alfred Byars LaVERNE JENNINGS-BYARS LaVerne Jennings-Byars, 93, passed away April 1, 2011 at her home in New Caney, Tx. with her family by her side following a stroke She was born April 11, 1917, in Pearl, Tx. to Johnny Dumas and wife Zelma Fowler-Dumas. Mrs. Byars spent much of her time outdoors with her plants and flowers.Her interests included family, pets, gardening, sewing and reading. She is survived by a brother, Johnny Dumas and wife Virginia, sister-in-law Margaret Dumas; sons Willard Jennings and wife Tina, and Chuck Jennings; daughters Peggy Barker and husband Bobby, and Karen Walleck; son-in-law John Jones; several nieces, nephews, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and also by many friends including Millie Hartman of Palacios. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ed Dumas and Dalton Dumas; sister Cleda Lewis; and daughter Sherry Jones.
