Bio

Julia LaPrele Spratley Brown, 83, died January 2, 1995. Born January 18, 1911 in American Fork, Utah to Albert Joseph and Zaley May Southwick Spratley. Married Von K. Brown on June 2, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She taught school in the Granite District for many years. Graduate of the University of Utah. Sang in the Tabernacle Choir for seventeen years. Served in many positions in the LDS Church, conducting many choirs, choruses and congregations. Survived by husband; children: Leslie (Bryan) Backman; Lyn (Glen) L. Tolman; Julie (Douglas) Ridge; and Von Kern (Julie) Brown; brother and sister, Richard (Marie) Spratley and Joan (J.W.) Child; and sixteen grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. in the Magna Stake Center, 3084 South 8400 West. Friends may call Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna, and Saturday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park. Published in the Deseret News on January 5, 1995.
