The News Times, Newport, OR 97365 Posted: Wednesday, May 18th, 2011 Beva Johnson Beva E. Johnson, 89, of Tillamook, Ore., formerly of Newport, Ore., died May 11, 2011 in Tillamook. She was born May 28, 1921 to Frank and Lillian (O'Connell) Effle in Dundee, Minn. She was married to John L. "Lefty" Johnson for more than 50 years, 30 of them were spent on the Oregon coast. She enjoyed managing several gift shops and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. She loved spending time with family and friends and going to church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Lefty" Johnson; her sister; and two brothers. She is survived by her five children, Patty Batey of Portland, Ore., Lyle (Susan) Johnson of Albany, Ore., Roger (Lorrie) Johnson of Katy, Texas, Keith (Susie) Johnson of Bend, Ore., Annette Bosworth Johnson of Tillamook; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 927 N. Coast Highway in Newport. At Beva's request, she will be cremated and laid to rest next to her husband at Chelan Abbey in Newport. Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity of the donor's choice.
