JACKSONVILLE - Services for Robert Lee Ward, 69, Longview, are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Thompson Funeral Home chapel, Jacksonville, with the Rev. Bob Kristensen officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville City Cemetery. Mr. Ward died Thursday in a Longview hospital after a sudden illness. He was born July 22, 1921, in Montalba and lived in Longview 18 years and formerly lived in Jacksonville and Conroe. He was retired from Exxon with 35 years service. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jacksonville, and a member of Exxon Retirement Club, Longview. He was a member of the Conroe Rotary Club and Good Sam's Club in Nacogdoches. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sammie Lane Ward, Longview; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Charles Bratz, Jacksonville, and Dru Ann and Jim Davis, Conroe; two sisters, Virginia Kristensen, Hill Top Lake, and Louise Cobb, Wimberly; four grandchildren, Stacie Bratz White, Karyn Bratz, Jared Ward Bratz and Cory Davis; one great-grandson, Lane White; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Maurice Est linbaum, Johnny Estlinbaum, Kenny Rhinehart, O'Neil Dubberly, John Hallmark, Mike Offield. Bill Tucker and Bill Brown.
