Mrs. Ada Roche, the wife of J.E. Roche, aged 69 years, died at 10 o'clock yesterday morning at her home on North Eighteenth Street. She had been sick for several weeks, but was confined to bed only about ten day preceding her death. She was a lifelong resident of Lamar County, she having been the daughter of Jas. M. Brackeen, a pioneer settler, who came here in 1832 from Lebanon, Tenn., and located near the present site of Howland. She is survived by her husband, five sons and three daughters. The children are James S. Roche of Waurika, OK, Martin J. Roche of Hastings, OK, Robert Roche and William E. Roche of Ringling, OK, Thomas H. Roche, Mrs. Martha (Bruce Thomas) Connolly and Mrs. Kathryn (Charles) Roach of Paris, and Mrs. Ella (John) Clem of Clovis, NM. All of the sons and daughters were present when she died. The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Thursday morning at the Catholic Church, conducted by Father Samperl, the priest in charge, assisted by Father O'Bried of Texarkana. Interment will be made at Evergreen Cemetery. The five sons will be the active pallbearers. Mrs. Roche was married to J.E. Roche December 15, 1869, and last December she celebrated her golden wedding anniversary together with her sister, Mrs. J.Q. Griffis, they being the only surviving members of a large family. Besides the eight children who survive her, she was the mother of four other children. She was a devoted mother, loyal wife and consistent christian.
