Bio

Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Martin was the daughter of Garland Rhodes Martin and Elizabeth Ann Richardson. She was born 20 Nov. 1825 in Hart Co.,Kentucky. In about 1841, she married Robert W. Weaver and together they had three children. Mary Ann and Azariah Hugh were born in Kentucky, but Robert Wesley was born in Texas. They came to Texas with Betsy's father Garland as part of the Peter's Colony in 1845. Evidently Robert died between 1847, when his youngest son Robert Wesley was born, and 1850. In the 1850 census, Betsy and the children are living with her parents in Collin County. On November 7, 1857, Betsy remarried a widower, Meridith "Meriday" Ashlock. Together they had five children, Isabelle Florentine Ashlock; Medora "Dora" Ashlock; John Garland Ashlock; Margaret E Ashlock; Betty Ashlock; Mary Luella Ashlock In the 1860 census, Azariah and Robert Wesley are living with their mother and step-father. Mary Ann is evidently already married. Betsy died January 9, 1894
