Bio
George S. Thomas, Jr. of Spur departed this life on Monday, May 9, 2011 at the age of 71. He was born October 31, 1939 in Clarksville, Texas to George and Winona (Denney) Thomas. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1958. George married Velma Jackson December 31, 1984 in Lubbock, Texas. George worked for Mrs. Bairds for forty two years before retiring as sales manager in 2002. He was a member of Texas Tech Red Raider Club. His memory will be cherished by his wife Velma; one daughter, JamieTadlock and husband Bobby of Lubbock, Texas; one son, Jackie Thomas and wife Betty of Brighton, CO; two brothers, Denny Thomas and Jerald Thomas both of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Joyce Jones of Lubbock, Texas and Teresa Swint of Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011 in Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
