Bio
Winona Euin Thomas of Lubbock departed this life on April 29, 2009 at the age of 96. She was born December 26, 1912 to William Andrew and Dora Catherine (Fairchild) Denny in Mt. Pleasant. She attended Birmingham School near Clarksville. She later married George S. Thomas on May 18, 1932 in Hugo, Okla. They later move to Lubbock in 1947 after living in Paris, Texas for several years. Winona was a very faithful member of Peace Tabernacle Church since July 1950 where she taught Sunday school for 15 years. Winona was a devoted servant of God and He has called her home. She was an extraordinary, loving, and caring person who will be greatly missed, especially by her family. Survivors include five precious children, Joyce Jones, George S. Thomas, Jr., Denny Thomas and Jerald Thomas all of Lubbock, and Teresa Swint of Amarillo; one niece, Ruby Spencer of Lubbock; nine grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters. Formal visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 at White Funeral Home in Lubbock. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 at White Memorial Chapel in Lubbock with Steve Swint officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the Lone Star Cemetery in Clarksville. Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home in Lubbock.
