December 8, 1944 page 1 and 8 Thomas Vajdak Dies Suddenly Suffers Heart Attack While Harnessing Team Last Monday morning while harnessing his team to go for a load of wood, Thomas Vjdak, age 73, suffered a heart attack and died at 10 o'clock at his home in the Snook Community. He was born April 11, 1871, in Moravia, in Czechoslovakia and had lived there until he was eight years of age. Shortly before the Christmas holidays in 1879, he came with his parents to Texas and settled at Nelsonville. Ten years later, the family moved to Snook. On October 29, 1893, he married Anna Plasek of Wesley. Immediately after the wedding, they came to Snook and have resided since in the community. To this union were born twelve children, ten of whom are living. One son and one daughter preceded him in death. Eight of the ten children were pres for their father's funeral. Two sons, William and Robert, who are serving in the armed forces of the U. S. were unable to come to the funeral for Tomas. Mrs Vajdak was well known in the county. Not only was he a hard working man, but he was also a good farmer and manager. He was a loyal and faithful member of the Czech-Morvian Church and a charter member of the SPJST Lodge of Snook.
