Bio

Louis Joseph Rychlik , 77, died Thursday, April 28, 2011 in Houston, Texas. A native of Granger, Texas he was born November 6, 1933 to Frank Joseph and Mary Agnes Dubec Rychlik. Louis was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond. He was a star high school athlete in football, basketball and track and graduated from Missouri City High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army and had Army Medical Training at Fort Sam Houston and was discharged in 1962. Louis graduated from Sam Houston State University with a bachelors degree in Industrial Arts and Physics in 1957. He worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for 40 years, 20 years as Houston Area Supervisor in materials and test division of TXDOT. He was one of the first to use and was instrumental in developing ultrasound for steel and concrete. Louis was in charge of quality control for the cables used in the Fred Hartman Suspension Bridge. Louis was a licensed inspector for the Texas Real Estate Commission. His hobbies were woodwork, gardening and his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Nellie Blanch Niven Rychlik, 3 sons; Norman Ray Rychlik and partner David Ryder, Larry Joseph Rychlik and wife Angel and Bruce Gregory Rychlik and wife Kimberly. 5 brothers; Lee, Benny, Joe, Johnny and Albert Rychlik, 3 sisters; Alice Rychlik Borski, Mary Rychlik Buri and Margie Rychlik David, 5 grandchildren; Hunter and Alexis Rychlik and Courtney, Mandy and Bailey Rychlik and many other loving family members and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 2 PM in the Chapel at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 4-8 P.M. in the Funeral Home Chapel at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church Food Pantry.
