Bio

Son of Patrick Lawrence O'Connor and Mary Jay Arrington On the 1930 census, he is listed as the adopted son of Mrs. Lucy Pruett ~ ~ ~ Services for the Rev. A. E. O'Connor, a longtime Dallas minister, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ed C. Smith & Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Dallas. Burial will be at Grove Hill Memorial Park. Mr. O'Connor died of pulmonary fibrosis Wednesday at his Dallas home. He was 81. He moved to Dallas in 1944 to be pastor at East Dallas Congregational Methodist Church, where he remained for 47 years. He also founded the Congregational Methodist Bible School, now based in Florence, Miss. He retired in 1987. The native of Hulen, La., was pastor at several churches in the Leesville and DeRitter areas of Louisiana before moving to Dallas. In 1988, he received an honorary doctorate from Wesley College in Florence. Survivors include two sons, Marvin L. O'Connor of Corsicana and Arthur E. O'Connor of Bristow, Okla.; and a brother, the Rev. Roy O'Connor of Baytown. Memorials may be made to Wesley College, P.O.
