Richland County Farmer Globe, on Thursday, July 15th, 1965 (transcribed as written) ~ Edw Mars, 57, Hankinson, Dies; Services Friday ~ Funeral services for Edward Mars, 57, of Hankinson, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Hankinson Congregational Church, Rev. Frank Hirons officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery. Mr. Mars died Tuesday at Fargo. Mr. Mars was born at Burwell, Neb., Dec. 12, 1907, the son of James and Ethel Mars. He attended school there and in 1940, (16 Nov. 1940) he was married to Pearl Olson. They lived in the western states until 1947, when they came to Hankinson. He was employed on highway construction, lately being employed by Asphalt In., of Dilworth, Minn. He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife; one son, Edward; brothers, John of Burwell, Neb.; Ralph of Omaha, Neb., Laurence of York, Neb., Sam of Grand Island, Neb.; sister, Mrs. Otto (Mabel) Mohr, Burwell, Neb.; and Clarence (Eula) Sarnowski of Taylor, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters. Wipperman Funeral Home, Hankinson, was in charge.
