Bio

Ellaree Craig Little, 88, passed away at her residence in Owens Cross Roads, Friday, April 22, 2011, after a lengthy illness. Ellaree was born July 17, 1922 in Lauderdale County to Clyde and Minnie Partrick. She moved to Madison County in 1937 where she resided the remainder of her life. In 1939 she married William Malone Craig and remained married until his passing in 1977. The union brought into the world two children, Jerry and Linda. In 1986 Ellaree married Loyd H. Little and came to love and appreciate the Little family as her own. Mrs. Little was an active and vibrant member of the Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ for more than 65 years. She was employed at the office of the probate judge for 30 years where she retired in 1985. After retirement, Mrs. Little had more time to quilt, garden and spend time with her family. This included traveling near and far for any sporting event in which her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved. Ella Ree, or "Mam" as she was named by her grandchildren, became affectionately known and loved as "Mam" throughout her community. Mam is survived by her son, Jerry Craig and wife Marion; daughter, Linda Hill; grandchildren, Craig Hill, Lynn Parker, Mark Craig and Harrel Hill; five great-grandchildren; her stepchildren, Harriet Belle Tucker and husband William, Margaret Anne Whitsett and husband Dan, the Honorable Loyd H. Little Jr. and wife Maggie; seven step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert Partrick and wife Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Lloyd, Doran, Ollus and Wayne Partrick, and one sister, Ruby Ezell. Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the New Hope Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Owens Cross Church of Christ with burial in Byrd Cemetery.
