1921 ~ 2004 LEHI -Glen Reed Matthews, age 82, of Lehi, died March 20, 2004, in the American Fork Hospital of heart failure. He was born December 11, 1921 in Pleasant Grove, Utah, son of Walter Glen and Hannah Cox Matthews. He married Betty Irene Christiansen February 13, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised their family in Pioche, Nevada and American Fork, Utah. Reed is a veteran of World War II in the European Campaign. He retired as a Prudential Insurance agent. Reed, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served faithfully in many church callings. He and his wife served continuous missions from 1984 to 2003, including two missions to the New York, Rochester area, and multiple Family History Missions. He was a loving and supportive father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family loves him dearly, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His sense of humor and cheerful disposition brightened the lives of those around him. He is survived by his wife Betty; sons, Glenn (Mary Jo), American Fork; Kevin (Mary Jo), Sandy; daughters, Marilyn Dawn (Brian) DeHart, Sandy; Teresa (Richard) Griffin, Lindon; Jullee (Jeff) Webster, Lehi; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Glade (Martha) Matthews, Orem; Dale Matthews, Orem; sister, LaRee (Vern) Black, Sandy; sister-in-law, Hannah Beth Matthews, Pleasant Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Mark Matthews; brother, Earl; sister, Mary Lou McDaniel. Funeral services will be Friday, March 26, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lehi 5th Ward Chapel, 365 E 300 N. Family and friends may call Thursday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E Main, Lehi, and Friday at the church from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Pleasant Grove City Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars
