Ronald "Ron" Lee Cox, 85, of Shawnee, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) at a local nursing home. Ron was born April 5, 1926, in Hinton to John Wesley and Leona (Austell) Cox. He attended schools in Hinton and Eakly. On Sept. 22, 1946, he married Thelma Buckley in Bellflower, Calif. He enjoyed his family, church, friends, fishing and outdoors, and listening to southern gospel music. Ron was self-employed for many years. He owned Pioneer Auto Wrecking and Ron's Tire in Southern California and Ron's Gas and Grocery in Shawnee. He also rebuilt automobiles. He was a member of Christian Life Fellowship in Moore and a member of Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship Assoc. Ron was preceded in death by his parents. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Thelma (Buckley) Cox, of the home; daughter, Ronda Clark and her husband Tom, of Shawnee, their sons, Jason Clark and his wife Lindsay, son Kye, all of Eufaula, Josh Clark and his wife Kasey, son Barrett, of Shawnee; son, Randy Cox and his wife Vicki of Oklahoma City, their daughter, Tammi Cox, children Weston Brooks, Anistyn and Anastasia Nickell, of Springdale, Ark., their son, Kevin Cox, children Caleb and Camdyn Cox, of Oklahoma City; brothers, Raymond Cox and his wife Develya, of Eakly, Bob Cox and his wife Jenelle, of Shawnee; numerous friends and many other relatives. Service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2011, at First Christian Church, 1625 N. Broadway, Shawnee, with Pastor John Walker with Christian Life Fellowship, Moore, officiating. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
