Services for Lonnie E. Ferrell Jr., 84, of Payne Springs were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Payne Springs Assembly of God Church with Mark Vaughn officiating. Burial followed at Patterson Cemetery in Cross Roads under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff. Mr. Ferrell died Nov. 23, 2004, in Payne Springs. He was born April 24, 1922, in Dallas to Lonnie E. and Lola Ferrell. Mr. Ferrell served in the U.S. Navy and has lived in the Malakoff/Payne Springs area for 50 years. He was a truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walton and William Ferrell; sisters, Julia Slocum, Elaine Bratcher and Joann Walker; his wife, Dorothy Ferrell, on Sept. 27, 2000; and a grandson, Joseph S. Ferrell, in 2001. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Lola and Earl Wayne Beets; sons and daughters-in-law, Toney Ferrell of Malakoff, Mark and Rosemary Ferrell of Cross Roads, Dan and Dana Ferrell of Trinidad, Joe Ferrell of Payne Springs, Lonnie (Red) Ferrell and wife Dianne, and Kelvin and Jessica Ferrell of Payne Springs; sisters, Frances Clem of Dallas, Lucille Pritchard of Irving, Dorothy Lough of Missouri and Mary Osborne of Dallas; 32 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
