Bio
LaVina E. Voboril, age 86 of Columbus died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams, Nebraska. LaVina was born to John and Mary Svoboda on their farm near Morse Bluff, Nebraska, on March 15, 1925. She attended local schools and was a graduate of the Normal Training program at Morse Bluff High School. She married Jim Voboril on June 26, 1943, at Camp Roberts, California, and returned to Nebraska to teach in rural schools during the years he was overseas. After the war, she and Jim lived in Omaha where their three children were born. The family moved to Columbus in 1963. LaVina worked at the First National Bank for many years and in recent years did volunteer work at St. Anthony's School. She was a member of St. Anthony's Parish, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 1834, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and sister, Wilma Brtek. She is survived by three children: Linda (Bill) Kosch, Lincoln, Colleen Milligan, Cayucos,California, Greg (Patti) Atascadero, California, brother:Orland Svoboda and sister: Marcella Pallat (North Bend),sister:Delma Kirby (Las Vegas,NV), 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to St. Anthony's School or Scotus Central Catholic High School.
