The East Oreognian Pendleton, Umatilla County, Oregon Sunday, April 10, 2011 Clara Jane Spurlock October 30, 1930 - April 9, 2011 ECHO — Clara Jane Spurlock, 77, of Echo died Saturday, April 9, 2011, at her home. A celebration of life service will be Monday, April 11 at 2 p.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Mrs. Spurlock was born Oct. 30, 1933, to John and Alice Lorene (Childers) Crabtree in Quanah, Texas. On July 8, 1945, she married Wilmer Wright "Tex" Spurlock in Paducah, Texas. They moved to Lebanon, Ore, in 1951 and lived in Newport and Reedsport for 28 years. While in Reedsport, she worked in a plywood mill. They moved to Echo in 1998. She and her husband were members of the Eagles Lodge and she enjoyed canning, sewing, camping, hunting and watching hummingbirds. Mrs. Spurlock is survived by her husband, Wilmer "Tex" Spurlock of Echo; four sons, Jack Spurlock of Burlington, N.C., Bob Spurlock of Eugene, Jim Spurlock of Pendleton and Mike Spurlock of Troutdale; a daughter, Teresa Gunn of Echo; two brothers, John and Larry Crabtree, both of Texas; two sisters, June Head and Nina Brown, both of Texas; 39 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Crabtree . Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Center of Oregon, OHSU Foundation, 1121 SW Salmon St., No. 100, Portland, OR. 97205.
