Dolores M. Knox, 97, of Grand Island died Friday, April 8, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center. Dolores was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Grand Island to Bert and Tina (Heesch) Yocum. Dolores was preceded death by her husband, Virgil. Survivors are: daughter and son-in-law, Sharolyn and Dale Dibbern of Grand Island; grandson and his wife, Don and Stephanie Dibbern of St. Louis, Mo.; a grandson, David Waggoner of Gering; a great-grandson, Payton Dibbern; and a host of relatives and friends. Dolores grew up and attended school in Grand Island. She was united in marriage to Virgil P. Knox on June 3, 1932 in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island where she worked as a dietary aide at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center for 17-1/2 years. Dolores was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and writing poetry. Dolores was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and the Retired Federal Employees Association. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter, Marilyn Waggoner, four brothers, and four sisters. Published Grand Island Independent 4/10/2011
