SARCOXIE, MO — Mrs. Marie Bernadine Wormington, 89, of Sarcoxie, Mo., departed this life on Thursday afternoon, April 7, 2011, at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center in Sarcoxie, Mo. Marie entered this life on Sept. 3, 1921, in rural Pierce City, Mo., one of 13 children born to the union of the late Joseph and Anna (Witt) Katzfey. She was a lifelong area resident and a 1941 graduate of Diamond High School. On May 13, 1950, she was united in marriage to Hazel Snow, and together they operated a grocery store and later a restaurant. Hazel preceded her in death in July of 1966. In April of 1970, she married Joe Wormington whom also preceded her in death in 1998. Throughout her life she was a devoted homemaker and a longtime faithful member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Hazel Snow and Joe Wormington; a son, Gerald Yarbrough; five brothers, Leo, Clarence, Francis, Edmund and an infant, Richard Katzfey; and a sister, Emma Palmer. Marie is survived by one son, Larry Yarbrough, of Joplin, Mo.; three brothers, Joe Katzfey, of Eudora, Kan., Bernard Katzfey and wife, Darlene, of Lawrence, Kan., and Lawrence Katzfey, Sr. and wife, Doris, of Sarcoxie; three sisters, Louise Eck, of Maryville, Mo., Anna Gruber, of Eudora, and Bernadine Adamson and husband, Jim, of Sarcoxie; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends. Funeral mass for Mrs. Wormington will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church on the Sarcoxie Prairie at 11 a.m. with Father Peter Morciniec officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Agnes Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Mark Adamson, David Adamson, Lawrence Katzfey, Jr., Marcus Katzfey, Mike Katzfey and Dennis Sooter.
