Bio
Claud James "Slim" Blackburn, 86, of Sanger, TX passed into Jesus' arms peacefully on April 6, 2011 at Sterling House of Richland Hills with family and friends around him. He was born on February 14, 1925 in Quanah, TX to Claud B. Blackburn and Mary Mitchell Thomas Blackburn. He was a proud WWII Navy veteran, retired from Victor Equipment, a farmer, and a member of Sanger Church of Christ. He married Wanda Merle Ary on December 7, 1947. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Service will be on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 11 am at the Sanger Church of Christ with John Payne officiating. Slim is survived by his daughter, Kathy Mims and husband, Don; grandson, Michael and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Merle; grandson, James and parents, Claud and Mary Blackburn. A special thanks to Integra Hospice and the Sterling House family.
