Bio

The Fairbury Journal Mrs. N. E. Davis, widow of the late N. E. Davis, for many years surveyor of Jefferson county, died at her home 1011 G. Street, Fairbury, Nebraska at 6 a.m. Friday, January 10, 1913, aged 73 years 11 months and 5 days. Mrs. Davis was ill with pneumonia from the Sunday preceding her death. She was born in Youngstown, New York, February 5, 1839 and was married December 1, 1869 to N. E. Davis. Three children survive, Rev. Robert E. Davis of South Dakota; Jason and Sarah Davis of this county. She also leaves two brothers and one sister, not residing here. Mr. Davis died in Fairbury October 14, 1908. They came to this county in 1869, homesteading the farm still owned by the family, four miles south of Fairbury. Mrs. Davis was the last surviving charter member of the Fairbury Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the W.R.C. Members of the G. A. R. were pallbearers at the funeral, which was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at eh Presbyterian Church, Rev. Megaw officiating.
