Bio

Louise (Lucy) Dorothy Witzsche, 91, died Saturday, Feb. 27, at Hamilton General Hospital. Services were Tuesday, March 2, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville with Pastor Nancy Lund officiating. Burial followed in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home. Miss Witzsche was born Dec. 13, 1907, in Pottsville, the daughter of Robert and Minnie Henrietta Witzscher. She was baptized on Feb. 7, 1908, at Trinity Lutheran Church and received her confirmation on Sept. 24, 1922, also at Trinity. She moved away, then returned to Hamilton County 30 years ago. She had worked as a thrasher cook, a switchboard operator and last as a file clerk for Republic National Life Insurance Co. in Dallas. She was a member of the Pottsville Family and Community Education Club, Trinity Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Women of ELCA. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Ella Menzdorf, Ida Napier and Dora Spivey, and three brothers, Adolph Witzsche, Oswald Witzsche and August Witzsche. Survivors include two sisters, Edna Robertson and husband Roth of Goldthwaite and Gertrude Menzdorf of San Antonio; a brother, Paul Witzsche of Pottsville; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-and great-great-nieces and nephews and friends. Pallbearers were Wilford Witzsche, Moritz Menzdorf, Robert Witzsche, Andrew Montoya Jr., Wayne Witzsche and Wesley Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Lee Robertson and Robert Britton.
