Marcella M. Cink, 94, of Oakes, ND, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, ND. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2011at 10:00 a.m. at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, ND. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with visitation an hour prior to the service all at the United Methodist Church, Oakes, ND. Reverend Steve Olson will be officiating. Burial will be at the Oakes View Cemetery near Oakes, ND. Marcella M. Stalle was born on March 27, 1917 at Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in the Straubville, North Dakota area, where she attended school. After graduating from Straubville High School, Marcella attended the Normal Industrial College at Ellendale, North Dakota, where she earned her teaching certificate. She then taught at Hamlin Country School near Lidgerwood, North Dakota. She was united in marriage to Edmund R. Cink on June 17, 1941 at Milnor, North Dakota. They made their home and farmed in the Stirum area. While living on the farm, Marcella loved the farm animals, especially the chickens and picking in their eggs. In 1975, the couple moved to Gwinner, North Dakota, and Marcella helped with custodial care at the Gwinner Public School. In November of 1997, Edmund and Marcella moved to Oakes. Mr. Cink died on February 28, 2000, and in June of 2000 Marcella became a resident of The Good Samaritan Society Oakes. Marcella was a member of the United Methodist Church in Oakes. She was also a chartered member of the Harmony Homemakers and a 4-H Leader. Marcella had many talents and hobbies. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, doing handy-work, especially crocheting, and listening to the birds singing was one of her favorite pastimes, with the Baltimore Oriole being her favorite. Baking and cooking were also a big part of Marcella's life. She loved to be in her kitchen preparing a meal for family and friends, whether it was for a holiday gathering or when they were busy doing field work. One of her many specialties were her orange rolls. She is survived by three daughters, Janine (Gary) Gemar, Minot, ND, Eileen (Bob) Lotzer, Milnor, ND, and Corine (Darwin) Wittmier, Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren, and another added blessing in October; and one great-great-grandson. Marcella was preceded in death by her mother, Celestine, her husband, Edmund and aunts and uncles.
