Jan Gemar, 78, of Minot, ND, passed away peacefully Monday, November 2, 2020, at Trinity Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Janine Dawn Cink was born on June 25, 1942, the daughter of Edmund and Marcella (Stalle) Cink, in Fargo, ND. She was raised on her family farm near Stirum, ND, and attended Stirum Public School until 9th grade. She transferred and graduated from Oakes Public School in 1960. On August 18, 1962, Jan was united in marriage to her soulmate, Gary Gemar, in Oakes, ND. They first resided in Valley City, ND while Gary finished his teaching degree. They then moved to White Shield, ND (1963 – 1970) and to Minot (1970 to present). Jan started her career at Trinity Hospital where she served in several roles, the latest being Business Manager, retiring following 41 years with Trinity Hospital. Jan will be remembered for her deep devotion and love for her family. She was an inspiration to many that knew her well. Jan enjoyed spending time with grandkids, summertime time at the lake, her recent trips to Hawaii, and her hobbies of sewing, knitting, crocheting, and scrapbooking. Jan’s family enjoyed their annual trips to Glacier for the past 50 years. Jan was a member of St. John The Apostle Church, where she was an active member of the parish, and very devoted to her faith. Surviving family includes: husband of 58 years, Gary; children, Jonna (Randy) Bischof; Jacki (Ricky) Harasym; Jason (Amy) Gemar11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eileen (Robert) Lotzer; Corine (Darwin) Wittmier and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins Jan was preceded in death by her parents; Edmund and Marcella Cink, her Father and Mother in-law, Edward and Olive Gemar, sister-in-law Sharon Kupfer and a brother-in-law Duane Gemar Thompson-Larson Funeral Home
