U.S. Veteran Douglas Lee "Peanut" Stewart, age 89, a native and resident of the Rabun Community of Bay Minette, AL died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at his daughter's residence. He was a retired school bus mechanic for the Baldwin County Board of Education. He proudly served his county in the U.S. Army during World War II and had fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Annie Lucile Blackmon Stewart of Rabun; his children, Larry Douglas (Rhonda) Stewart of Duluth, GA, Kathy Stewart Hollingsworth of Rabun, Kevin Lee (Brenda) Stewart of Bay Minette; seven grandchildren, Courtney Stewart and Madison Stewart both of Bay Minette, AL, Laura Stewart of Duluth, GA, Stewart Hollingsworth and Kathryn Hollingsworth of Rabun, Tiffany Hollingsworth of Loxley, AL, Brannon Hollingsworth of Hartselle, AL and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Ann Stewart, his parents, Marion Benjamin and Julia McDowell Stewart, eight brothers and two sisters. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Sister Helen Stewart and Reverend Alan Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow at Dean Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends Friday, April 1, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation Saturday, April 1, 2011 from 12:00 noon until the 2:00 p.m. service at Norris Funeral Home
