Frank was born at Lubla, Rzeszow, Poland - House #86. His father was John Kos and his mother was Maria Kos. John & Maria were cousins with the same surname - KOS; which in Polish means - Black Bird. Frank arrived in America at the Port of New Orleans with his father, stepmother & siblings on 29 December 1880. They first settled in Waller Co.; near the town of Hempstead. Frank married Petronella Piatkowski on 9 November 1885 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, Brazos Co., Texas; Father A. Laspc presiding. Frank's American citizenship was granted in Brazos Co., Texas, on 22 July 1890. John was a farmer, but also owned "the Kosh Saloon" which was located on Main Street in downtown Bryan.
