Laza, Edward Charles 81, passed away Tuesday March 8, 2011, after a brief illness. Ed was born on August 12, 1929 to Joseph and Mary (Bobalik) Laza in Ennis, Texas. He grew up in Ennis then attended NTAC in Arlington where he studied Radio and Television Production and was a First Lieutenant in the R.O.T.C. After college he joined the U.S. Navy and later received an honorable discharge. He was active in his local community of Richardson where he and his wife Clara moved to in 1955. He worked for Ivey Lumber Sales & then for National Lock Co. In 1964 Ed and Clara opened Laza & Co., Inc., - a builders hardware distributor. He had many friends in the DFW area and also on South Padre Island where he and Clara visited often. Ed enjoyed telling stories of flying planes in his youth, offshore fishing, was a founding member of the Dallas Grand Prix and was on the Board of Directors of the Richardson Symphony Orchestra. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Clara (Berka) Laza, daughter April Laza, daughter Amber and son-in-law Mark Gottlieb, Don York and sisters Hattie Knowlton and Evelyn Kosich, He was proceeded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Laza, sister Mildred York and brother Joe Laza. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday March 26, 2011 at 2:00 pm, at the First Presbyterian Church, 319 LaSalle Drive, Richardson, Texas, 75081.
