Bio
Elizabeth's grave is one of many who had headstones made of wood or destroyed over the years who are now just among the unmarked graves in the Horton Family Cemetery. Also, the early cemetery records were incomplete due to not having a caretaker numerous times over the years according to Sam Houston Horton. Sam Houston Horton mentioned in his notes from: "Life of Col. A. Horton" that his Grandmother, Elizabeth (Davenport) Cooper, Barnes, Groce, was buried in a grave beside his mother, Elizabeth (Cooper) Horton, in the Horton Family Cemetery so, this memorial was created to respectfully honor her memory. Elizabeth (Davenport) was previously married to: Martin Cooper, George Barnes and Mr Groce. Elizabeth(Davenport)and Martin Cooper were the loving parent's of: Martha(Cooper) Mary Jane (Cooper) Hamilton Watson Sarah "Sallie" (Cooper)Ragsdale Gilbert Elizabeth(Cooper)Lattin Horton Malinda (Cooper)Arnold Kelsey Eliza(Cooper)Cullen Melissa(Cooper)Horton Hamilton Dixon She was a hard working woman of great faith who faced life's challenges with courage, caring for her family, friends and country honorably with love and devotion.
