Survivors include- Daughter-Joan and Bob Lappe of Council Bluffs, IA Son-Richard Ortmeier of Charlston, SC 7 Grandchildren 3 Great Grandchildren Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian Ortmeier age 98 of West Point, NE will be Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, NE with interment in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from noon till 8 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE. There will a Guild/Christian Mothers/Catholic Daughters Rosary at 1:30 p.m. and a public Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church. Lillian passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011 at the West Point Living Center. Lillian Ortmeier was born October 6, 1912 at Dodge, NE to Joseph and Mary (Hansel) Maresh. She attended and graduated from St. Wenceslaus School and later Dodge High School in 1930. She went on to receive her nurses training at St. Catherine's Nursing School in Omaha, NE. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital and St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE. She also had helped to develop what is now St. Francis Home Health. In 1942, she was united in marriage to Herman Ortmeier at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE. The couple farmed south of West Point until moving into town in 1977. Lillian took up bowling later in life and still bowled actively when she was 90 years old. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters and the Ladies Guild. Lillian enjoyed cooking, gardening and flowers. Survivors include- Daughter-Joan and Bob Lappe of Council Bluffs, IA; Son-Richard Ortmeier of Charlston, SC; 7 Grandchildren 3 Great Grandchildren Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
