Nellie Margaret Richardson, 86, of Mount Vernon and formerly of Greer, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Country Club Rehabilitation Center, where she was a resident. She was born Aug. 27, 1924, in Webster Springs, W.Va., to Edward Daniel and Daisy (Rose) Baldwin. She married James A. Richardson in 1944, who preceded her in death on March 30, 1983. She was a former cook at Samaritan Hospital, a member of Greer Wesleyan Church, and she loved gardening, flowers and playing with her grandchildren. She is survived by a son, James (Jean) Richardson of Danville; three daughters, Elizabeth (Larry) Strickland of San Antonio, Mary (Gaylord) Thompson of Ashland and Sue Richardson of Latonia, Ky.; eight grandchildren, April Gutchess and Larry (Cynthia) Strickland of San Antonio, Deeanna (Ben) Corder of Columbus, Jessica (Charles) Martin of Wooster, Meredith (Chris) Pay, Monty Thompson and Corrie Thompson, all of Ashland, and Timothy Richardson of Latonia, Ky.; seven great-grandchildren, Krysten Gutchess, Colt Strickland, Aiden Corder, Hunter Pay, Brittney and Jamie Thompson, and Dean Thompson expected; three brothers, Joseph (Karen) Baldwin and Joe Edward Baldwin, both of Fairmont, W.Va., and David Baldwin of Wallace, W. Va.; two sisters, Virginia Pierce of Dover and Daisy Cornette of Dayton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Richardson; four brothers, Doy, Lloyd, Jess and Frank Baldwin; and a sister, Bonnie Nichols. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today, March 18, 2011, at Fischer Funeral Home in Danville with Pastor Lloyd Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
