Bio
Born at Josefzdorf, Czechoslovakia. Son of Wencil & Katherine Horky. John came with his parents to America at the age of thirteen, settling on a farm half a mile southeast of Farwell and here he grew to manhood. He was married Nov. 20, 1888 to Marie Eret. They lived on the farm until 1930 when they retired and moved to Farwell and lived there until the death of his wife, since then he has been living with his children. He was the father of twelve children:George, James, Raymond, Vincent, Henry, Alfred, Louis, Gilbert, Helen, Emma all survive him, two sons preceded him in death. John loved to read and he spent many hours drawing and entertaining his grandchildren. His greatest joy was driving to visit his children. He was never ill in his life, he died in his car while getting mail at the home of his son, Gilbert. He was 89 years, 6 months & 13 days. (Thanks to Kathy Burr for the links to his parents!)
