From The Wolbach Messenger, November 2, 1967, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Alfred Horky was born near Farwell on February 24, 1899 to John and Marie Eriet Horky. He grew to manhood in the Farwell community and attended the nearby rural school. On October 6, 1931, he was married to Mary Ann Tuma at St. Paul. They farmed west of Farwell. To this union were born a son Harlan and two daughters, Elma and Doline. Mrs. Horky died April 22nd, 1962. Mr. Horky continued living on the farm. Early Wednesday evening, he suffered a severe heart attack which claimed his life. He was 68 years of age. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and six brothers, George, James, Joe, John, Henry and Vince. He is survived by his children; a son Harlan of Grand Island, two daughters, Mrs. Louis Lambrecht of Duchesne, Utah, and Mrs. Doline Hutton of Grand Island; six grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond of Sargent, Louis of Grand Island and Gilbert of Farwell; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Klanecky of Farwell and Mrs. William Holub of Ravenna, an uncle, Frank Eriet of Alhambra, California and two aunts, Mrs. Milton Horak of Burwell and Mrs. Josie Zeman of Alhambra, California.
