BOONEVILLE - Roy Lee Morris, 77, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born May 20, 1926, to the late Elmer and Hattie Mae Johnson Morris. He was a retired employee of the Mississippi Department of - Transportation. He was president of the Booneville Housing Authority Board and a member of the Prentiss County Electric Power Association Board. He was an active member of the Booneville Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in China, Burma and India Campaign. He enjoyed raising and training bird dogs. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with - Minister Doug Greenway and Minister J.A. Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Julia Lee Dunn Morris; two daughters, Wilda Pounds and husband, Stan, and Sandy Arnold and husband, William, all of Booneville; two sisters, Lona Boren of Tupelo and Betty Jo Downs of Booneville; three grandsons, Jason Walden, Hayden Hughes and Evan Pounds; three step grandchildren, DeAnne Smith and husband, Mike, Steve Arnold and wife, Denise, and Jim Arnold and wife, Shanna; six step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Robert Morris, Edgar Morris, Everett Morris and Earl Morris; and three sisters, Oma Christian, Grace Sheffield and Billye Caver. Pallbearers will be Sammy Green, Fred Gaines, George Via, Roger Griffin, Milton Floyd and Joe Kingsley. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hardee's coffee club.
