Lillie Jewel Franklin (nee Stevens), 96, of Celina, TX, passed away on November 29, 2023. She was born on March 7, 1927, in Anna, Texas. Jewel married the love of her life E.C. Franklin on August 19, 1944, in Celina, Texas. Jewel was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Jewel was a woman of faith and found solace in her worship at Bethel Baptist Church and Cottage Hill Methodist. She cherished her time spent at these places of worship. Jewel had a vibrant personality and a deep love for music. She especially enjoyed singing country music and had a particular fondness for cardinals. Jewel's love for her family knew no bounds, and she always stood by them. She also had a strong connection to her community and dedicated over 40 years to running the service station in Celina alongside her late husband. Jewel's legacy lives on through her loved ones. She is survived by her brother Clyde Stevens, her son, Weldon Franklin, and his wife, Lenora Franklin, her daughter, Karen Franklin McFarland, four grandchildren, Franklin David Crowder and his wife, Marti McFarland, Kristi Crowder, and Wanda Childres. She is also survived by multiple great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Jewel was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. Franklin, her daughter, Judy Crowder, her father, H.S. Stevens Sr., her mother, Elsie Young Stevens, her sisters, Mae Bell, Jessie Burk, and Loriane Robinson, and her brothers, H.S. Stevens Jr., David Stevens, Daniel Stevens, Wayne Stevens, and Calvin Stevens. A visitation will be held at Bethel Baptist Church on December 8, 2023, from 6-8 pm. Graveside services will take place on December 9, 2023, at 10:30 am at Cottage Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Celina Fire Department or the Celina Police Association in memory of Lille Jewel Franklin.
