Obituary: On Saturday morning, Jan 24, 1903, occurred the death of Mrs. John Campbell at her home in this place. Death was the culmination of a long and severe siege of illness. Mrs. Campbell was a little past 80 years of age and was esteemed highly by a large acquaintance, having been a resident of Dewey and this place for many years. The funeral services were held from the M. E. church, Monday at 2 o'clock, Rev. Crews delivering the sermon. The remains were laid at rest in the Willow Brook Cemetery. Ruby Peabody Campbell was born in Indiana, December 12, 1822 and died in Fisher, Ill. Jan. 24, 1903, aged 80 years one month and twelve days. She was the third child of Stephen and Louise(?) Peabody. On March 31, 1843, she was married to J C Campbell in Indiana. The same year she united with the Methodist church in Switzerland County, Indiana. In 1857 they moved near Dewey and for a good many years she was a member of the Bethel church and when she came to Fisher to live with her daughter, Mrs. Wm Waggoner, she brought her church membership here. Eight children were born to them - Howard and Eva deceased; Oliver living in Lee county, Illinois, James and Artemus, Omaha, Nebraska; Mary A Strouse, Bureau county, Illinois; John E, Rantoul; Elizabeth Waggoner, Fisher. Sister Campbell was very fond of her bible and Methodist hymn book, very patient in sickness and led an exemplary and very useful Christian life. Rev. E. K.
