Hudec, Vincent "Jim" Weimar Man, 7 Others Injured In Wreck Here A 75-year-old Weimar man and seven others from Columbus and Fayetteville were injured in a grindling, near headon crash at 3 p.m. Monday, at the intersection of Osage Road and Highway 90, 1.2 miles east of Weimar. In Youens Hospital with severe injuries is Vince ("Jim") Hudec, 75, of Weimar. He has a fractured pelvis, fractured collar bone and ribs, cuts about the face, neck and arms, and internal injuries. Taken to Columbus Hospital were the seven occupants of the other car, three with broken bones and all with various cuts and abrasions. Most seriously injured in the Columbus car was the driver, Mattie Winn, 44, who had both legs broken, a neck injury, and some facial cuts. The others and their injuries: Lela McDonald, 70, facial injuries, possibly a broken cheekbone. Timothy Wayne Whitehead, 8, right leg broken. William Thomas Whitehead, 6, face cuts and leg abrasions. Princess Whitehead, 65, deep cut on forehead. Margie Whitehead, 26, neck injuries. Elizabeth Orise, 45, broken arm and three broken ribs. She is from Fayetteville; the others are all from Columbus. Highway Patrolman Joe French of Eagle Lake said Mr. Hudec was going east in his 1954 Chevrolet and turned left off Highway 90 to the Osage Road, into the path of the westbound Columbus car, a 1960 Chevrolet. Both cars were total wrecks. Weimar Mercury, 9 Sep 1965, page 1 Wreck Injuries Become Fatal For Jim Hudec Injuries he suffered in a two-car wreck on Labor Day, Sept. 6, became fatal Saturday, Oct. 30 for Vincent (Jim) Hudec, 75-year-old retired resident of the river section near Weimar. He had come out of the wreck with fractures of the pelvis, collar bone, and several ribs, in addition to multiple cuts and internal injuries. He spent five weeks in Youens Hospital here, then was transferred to Columbus Convalescent Home, where he died about two weeks later. The wreck occurred at the intersection of the Osage road and Highway 90 as Mr. Hudec was turning left off the highway on his way home. A bachelor, he was a lifelong resident of this area. He was born Sept. 23, 1890, at Dubina, a son of Vincent and Frances Hudec. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Rev. Albert Hubertus officiated in services at Hubbard Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, and at St. Michael's Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill Hudec, Edwin Stock, Frank Krahl, Alvin Rerich, Frank Skutca and Adolf Hudec. Survivors are one brother, Richard Hudec of Ft. Worth; three sisters, Mrs. Tina Penn and Mrs. Josie Wise of Ft. Worth and Mrs. Frances Rerich of Weimar. Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
