Gary Donald Meredith, 61, of Dorchester, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 at Crete Area Medical Center. He was born on Feb. 12, 1950 in Nebraska City to Donald "Curley" and Marjorie (Younker) Meredith. He married Mary Duncan on June 25, 1977 in Nebraska City He moved to Dorchester 28 years ago. He worked at Crete Mills and was a member of the Dorchester Volunteer Fire Department and Dorchester V.F.W. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He loved hunting, collecting western memorabilia, photography and spending time with his grandchildren. Preceded in death by his father and grandparents. He is survived by his former wife, Mary Meredith, Crete; sons and daughters-in-law Thomas and Katy, Lincoln; Cody and Jessica, Crete; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and J.W. Walker, Friend; 10 grandchildren, Colby, Riley, Alexis, Emma and Josephine Walker, Graydon Evans Joy Meredith-Walker, Brad Lee Kalkwarf, Jr., Cyndralynn and Danicaella Meredith; mother Marjorie Meredith; brother and sister-in-law, Alan "Butch" and Carol Meredith; sisters and brother-in-law, Idona and Wayne Plybon, Meri Meredith, all Union; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services was held on Tuesday, March 1 at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with Pastor Roger Wolfe officiating. Interment in Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City.
