Mrs. Alice Mae (Allie) Shockey, 94 of Douglass, died Sunday, September 20, 1970, at Newton Memorial Hospital, Winfield, KS. Services were held today, (Tuesday) at 2:30 at the Hilyard Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Findley was the officiating minister. The daughter of Merrett and Olive Whitted, was born July 30, 1876, at Geneseo, Illinois, and was brought to the Douglass area in a covered wagon as a girl. She has lived in the Mulvane, Udall, and Douglass communities all of her life. She was a member of the Brethern Church in Mulvane, KS Her husband, Abraham, preceded her in death on March 23, 1952, and her son, Jerry Ferguson on March 14, 1961. Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis (Mrs. Walter Stanley), Douglass, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Beatrice Ferguson, Cunningham, Kansas., a sister Mrs. Nellie Cole of Kansas City, Missouri, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Burial was in Richland Cemetery, Douglass, KS.
