Emily Hutchins Emily (Gembala) Hutchins, 93, of Nampa, Idaho died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at her home. A viewing was held at Alsip Funeral Chapel in Nampa on Tuesday, May 5 from 4 to 8 pm. Graveside services were at Kohler Lawn Nampa, Idaho on Wednesday, May 6 at 2 p.m. Friends and family met at the Church of God Seventh Day after the service. Emily Hutchins was born Jan. 17, 1916 to John and Agnes Gembala in Kansas City, Mo., the first born of 10 children. She grew up on a farm in the Loup City area until her marriage to Albert Austin in 1945 when they moved to Nampa, Idaho and she lived there for the rest of her life. They later divorced, but from that marriage came two children, a daughter, Charlene and a son, Alan. She worked for many years at Stone Poultry in Nampa as an "egg candler" or grader as they were called back then and later worked in the office. In 1959 she married Roy Hutchins and together they enjoyed fishing, camping and did some traveling. They always had a large garden and she did canning for all of the family for many years. Hutchins enjoyed doing embroidery and crocheting work. She made quilts and they will always be treasured. She was a very good cook and in the summer always made a batch of homemade ice cream and she would make "Texas" sheet cake. She was a faithful fan of baseball and watched the playoffs and the World Series every year. She enjoyed being with family, grand children and great grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Rick Fobes, Boise, Idaho, a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Gaylene Austin, Nampa, Idaho, five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a sister, Lorraine Gembala, Nampa, Idaho, a brother, Clarence Gembala, Bigfork, Mont.
