Vernetta C. "Vern" Boldt, 71, of Moline, died Friday, May 20, 2005 in East Moline at the home of her daughter after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Culeman's Hall, Moline. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of DeRoo Funeral Home. Vernetta was born Sept. 5, 1933, in Bruno, Neb., the daughter of Fred and Sophia Burianek Ptacek. She married Theodore J. Boldt June 18, 1955, in Davenport. He preceded her in death July 20, 1969. Mrs. Boldt was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Moline, the Republican Women and the NRA. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Sandy and Larry Whitmer, East Moline, Theresa Boldt, California; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Jennifer Boldt, Ft. Collins, Colo.; grandchildren, Kirk and Kory Ramirez, Kyle, Kevin, Kara and Matthew Boldt, Kelsey, Lauren and Nick Whittenberg; sister, Patricia Souder, Conover, Texas; brother, Michael Ptacek, Rock Island; and special friends, Vince, Jan, Jackie, Katie, Abby and Reed Duyvejonck, and Scott, Chris, Katie and Sean Turnipseed. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Ptacek, and a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Boldt.
