Bio

Michael Y. Ptacek, 76, a longtime Quad-City resident, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 in Jacksonville, FL after a short, heroic battle with cancer. Michael grew up, married and raised his family in Davenport, retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers in 2000 and just recently relocated to Jacksonville. He is survived by Marilyn, his wife of 55 years; his three children, Mary Ptacek, Minneapolis, Minn., Mark Ptacek and wife Helen, Milan and Marge Ptacek, Jacksonville; his sister, Patricia Souder of Conroe, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Sophia and Fred Ptacek; his brother, Bobby and his sister, Vernetta. Contributor: seifert (49945766)
