NAVY Veteran Served 4 Nov 1953- 22 Jul 1957 _____________________________________ Lorin Eugene Parks, son of L. Ervin and Iola (Percy) Parks, was born July 17, 1935 in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up there and graduated from Washington High School in 1953. Lorin entered the U.S. Navy in 1953. Lorin was united in marriage with Madelyn "Lynn" Mayo on June 5, 1956 in Fall River, MA. Following his honorable discharge in 1957 the couple made their home in Sioux Falls. Lorin graduated from Augustana College in 1961. While in college he also worked for Terrace Park Dairy. Lorin began his career as a claims adjuster for Farmers Insurance Group in 1962, retiring in 1992 after 30 years of service. He then worked as an adjuster for Crawford Insurance until 1997. Lorin had a love for hunting and fishing and he enjoyed passing this passion on to his grandchildren. He also spent many hours with his longtime friends going hunting, fishing, and attending auctions. Lorin was a member of St. Lambert's Catholic Church. Lorin had drawn closer to his Savior and looked forward to seeing Him. Lorin was preceded in death by his father and a special friend, Melvin Nelson. Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at St. Lambert's Catholic Church following the funeral mass and military rites.
